Sleeping With The Past is Elton’s 22nd studio album. It was released on the 29th of August in 1989–nearly three decades ago.
 

On Sleeping With The Past, Elton and Bernie Taupin decided to pay homage to the R&B sound of the 1960s and ’70s that inspired them as youths. 
 
Among the songs was Sacrifice, which became Elton’s first solo UK #1. Prior to this he had had 53 British hit singles but his only chart topper had been Don’t Go Breaking My Heart, his duet with Kiki Dee.
 
Among the other strong tracks were Whispers, Durban Deep, Healing Hands, Club at the End of The Street and Blue Avenue.
