In 1973, Elton appeared on an episode of the Gilbert O’Sullivan Show in the United Kingdom. The rocker used the opportunity to perform Step Into Christmas, which had been released as a single in November of that year.

Now the music-maker has shared the recently unearthed original clip of him performing the holiday classic, along with a new three-song EP.

The pianist was joined on the television show by his classic 1970s lineup of guitarist Davey Johnstone, bassist Dee Murray and drummer Nigel Olsson along with a rare appearance by Elton’s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin on percussion.

Additionally, the former Reg Dwight has released a new three-song EP which includes the original studio version Step Into Christmas along with its B-side Ho! Ho! Ho! (Who’d Be A Turkey At Christmas) as well as the live version of Step Into Christmas from the Gilbert O’Sullivan Show.
