A preview of the original handwritten lyrics penned by Bernie Taupin for Your Song was recently held at Bonhams, in Knightsbridge.
This was in advance of Bonhams Rock and Roll Memorabilia Sale, to be held at Bonhams New York on November 19.
Also at this event will be a pair of rare Elton John promotional jackets.
One is a blue satin baseball-style jacket which was only available to Rocket Records staff. The company was set up in 1973.
The other item is made of black velvet, with gold piping around the cuffs, pockets, and collar. This was a promotional garment for Elton and Ray Cooper at the Rainbow Theatre. This jacket dates from the second through the seventh of May, 1977, when Elton and Ray performed together for six shows in London.
