Elton has rescheduled a couple of Liverpool dates. The venue, M&S Bank Arena, explained that the city is to present the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. So the Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert, which was to take place on the 22nd of April, will instead be held on 23 March 2023. And the other engagement, set for the 23rd of April, has been rescheduled for 24 March 2023.

Pretty soon, on the fourth of November, Elton will be performing in Denver, Colorado. Retro1025 now has a chance to win tickets for the Ball Arena gig.

Elton is expected to make his Metaverse debut soon. Roblox Leakers has posted a tweet.

Displaying a variety of Elton-inspired avatar accessories as well as an experience that is in the works.

Also on the horizon are the NRJ Hit Music Only Awards in France, set for the 18th of November. Elton and Britney Spears’ Hold Me Closer is nominated for for Best International Collaboration of the Year. Meanwhile, they have released their second official remix. This one’s courtesy of producer/DJ Purple Disco Machine; the previous one was with Joel Corry.

As for the original Tiny Dancer, did you ever catch this old video in which Elton explains how he came to write the song?

This ought to appeal to Paris Hilton, who has posted a video of a young Tom Cruise doppelganger singing Tiny Dancer. Paris, who donned a pair of heart-shaped spectacles and placed a pink pair of glasses on her little dog, wrote there was ”nothing like being serenaded” with one of her favourite tunes. However, she also suggests that ”Tom” stick to acting.

• You may have seen Tommy Johansson‘s version of I’m Still Standing earlier this year in which he switched his eyewear, as Elton did in his video. Now the heavy metal guitarist has covered another EJ tune: Circle  of Life, from The Lion King.

THE LION KING Musical is coming to Zurich, Switzerland, for the first time. It plays from 23 November 2023 through 14 January 2024.

• The star of What Not to Wear has written her autobiography, which is now out in the UK (and due in the States next year). It is by a friend of Elton’s, Susannah Constantine, and discusses her career as well as her journey as a recovering alcoholic. The publisher informs MT that there is a good deal about Elton (who has blurbed the book) in Ready for Absolutely Nothing, and a photo as well.

Tangerine Records has re-released Ray Charles‘ duets album Genius Loves Company, which saw the singer team up with Elton on Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.

Go HERE to order on vinyl or CD. The song originally appeared on Elton’s double LP Blue Moves, which was released over four decades ago, on 22 October 1976. Blue Moves, which hit #3 in the States and UK, also offered Bite Your Lip (Get Up and Dance!), which was indeed danceable, the soulful Boogie Pilgrim, and what MT considers other underrated numbers like Chameleon and Crazy Water. Elton has called it one of his favourite discs.

Do you think that Nigel Olsson, Davey Johnstone, Ray Cooper, and the late Dee Murray ought to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Tom Cridland, a fashion designer whose clients include Nigel, has been campaigning to get them in. Also a musician who has written his own songs, Tom is currently touring with his Elton John tribute act.

• On Saturday, the Ohio State University Band saluted Elton with a medley of hits. These included Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) and Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.

Elton himself paid tribute–via video–when Joni Mitchell was feted by MusiCares. She was named Person of The Year, and the April 2022 event also included videotaped messages from Neil Young, Meryl Streep, and Lionel Richie, while names like Brandi Carlile, Beck, Herbie Hancock, John Legend, Cyndi Lauper, and Yola appeared onstage.

Now it has been announced that Carlile and Mitchell are going to do a couple of shows, billed as Echoes-Through-The-Canyon, next summer in Washington state. It’s not known whether Brandi will bring along her Les Paul guitar, which was a gift from Elton. Joni, who suffered a brain aneurysm in 2015, has continued her comeback, even holding a series of jam sessions in recent years, at her home in Los Angeles, California, with Elton, Mavis Staples, Bonnie Raitt, Hozier, and Harry Styles.
