The songwriter wrote that he was ”absolutely devastated” to hear about Charlie Watts.
 
He was ”not only rock and roll’s greatest time keeper but the consummate gentle, old friend and beacon of common sense. He was the living, breathing heart of the Rolling Stones.
 
”The Stones may continue to roll but without Charlie, they will never be the same again. My heart is broken.”
