The bulk of Elton’s Vevey concert on Saturday consisted of vintage material, such as Candle In The Wind, Philadelphia Freedom, Sorry Seems to be The Hardest Word, I’m Still Standing, Sacrifice, Honky Cat, Daniel, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Tiny Dancer, Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding and Your Song.
However, the vocalist, who appeared to be in very good spirits, also performed a newer melody.
He dedicated The Bridge to Luciano Pavarotti, who passed away last week after a year-long battle against cancer.
Incidentally, in November when Elton played London, Ontario’s
John LaBatt Centre, he dedicated the same selection to
Jenny, a close associate of 30 years, who suffered an aneurysm a day earlier. Elton said she was fighting for her life, and added:
“I just hope she is able to cross ‘that bridge’ so I can see her again when I go home.”
